Friends and Visitors,
I hope that you will find at the First Universalist Church of Westfield Center what I have been privileged to enjoy from my first day inside these doors: Complete acceptance, love, and support. Here there is openness and healing, especially for those in the LGBTQ community like myself.
In my academic studies and my life I have yearned for social justice. In my Masters in Theological Studies and Masters of Divinity, I focused heavily on interfaith studies, gender/sexuality and spirituality, and religious education. It was in these studies that I learned how to take my strong beliefs in social justice and put them into action. It is one of my goals for our small congregation to make a difference in some way.
Our church services are a good mix of contemporary and traditional ways. Our messages are on a wide variety of topics, from different religious traditions to issues of social justice to spiritual inspiration. We read from World Scriptures, which gives hope and comfort from the perspective of many faith traditions. Sometimes we celebrate different types of ‘communion’ services which emphasize our connection with each other and the natural world: We have had maple syrup communion, flower communion, water communion as well as the traditional Christian-based communion service.
As a potential visitor, you may have many questions about our church. You are more than welcome to visit any Sunday service at 10:15, or to email me (firstname.lastname@example.org) or to call. We hope to see you at the First Universalist Church of Westfield Center!
